BlackBerry’s CEO, Thorsten Heins, began BlackBerry’s annual event with the introduction of a new BlackBerry 10 device, the Q5. The device is intended specifically for emerging markets. The Q5 is a portrait style, Qwerty handset that mimics the design of the Q10.
It features a 3.1-inch touch screen and full Qwerty keyboard. It will be launched in four colours (black, white, pink and red). The Q5 will be released in Africa, Asia, the Middle East, Europe and Latin America in July 2013. It will not be available in the United States and Canada. No mention was made regarding the device’s pricing but, with the launch around the corner, those details will arise soon.
Thorsten Heins, President and CEO of BlackBerry, said, “BlackBerry is excited to bring a new BlackBerry QWERTY smartphone, the BlackBerry Q5, to our customers in selected markets around world. The BlackBerry Q5 gives you the best of everything with its cutting-edge BlackBerry 10 functionality and a physical QWERTY keyboard. It is for youthful fans that are passionate, confident and bold, and it makes it easy for them to have fun, create, share and stay connected.”
