Hi Glenn. It’s a tough call.
The G510 has a couple of features that the Lumia 520 doesn’t have namely: a front facing camera and NFC.
On the storage side the Lumia 520 comes with 8 GB of internal storage and the Ascend G510 comes with 4 GB. Both phones have a MicroSD card slot.
While the Lumia 520 has a slower processor, it provides a much smoother experience than the G510. The G510 is a bit slow for Android Jelly Bean, but it’s not a deal breaker.
The deciding factor for me would be which operating system I want to use. Android (on the G510) is more established than Windows Phone (the Lumia 520) and so there are a lot more apps to download. Windows Phone provides a fresh and different experience to Android. It’s a very social platform, because the live tiles contantly give you Facebook and Twitter updates.
What I would recommend is that you go to a store and try both models, so that you can get a feel for the operating systems. Then choose the phone you like the most.
I can’t give you a straight-forward answer because both phones are great and it’s not really comparing apples with apples.
      I hope that helps.
